Elizabeth & David | Waukesha Wedding Photographer
It was a sunny April day, the snow was slowly melting, the sky was bright blue, and sparkling daylight streamed through the tall stained glass windows at St. William's Church. She walked through the doors with the biggest smile on her face. Music, tempo, one foot in front of the other, he walked his only daughter, his only child down the aisle to her forever and always.
David is strong and steady, the kind of guy that people rely on for plans and navigation. (He could get you out of the forest without a map.) Elizabeth is spontaneous and sweet, the kind of person you rely on for a good adventure. (She can make an ordinary day extraordinary.) He makes her smile. She makes him laugh. They make eachother better.
When Elizabeth's dad got up to give his toast, he stood there tall and strong with a piece of paper in his hands that contained words that would make everyone a little teary-eyed. She weighed just over 4 pounds and spent the first few weeks of her life in the NICU. He described her fight for her life in those first few weeks, and explained that Elizabeth was God's greatest blessing to him and his wife Ann. As he told his daughter's story, he spoke about how she was a one-of-a-kind original. She has a love for polka music and figure-skating. Each word was laced with love, carefully thought out and kind. As he spoke, you could tell that he was proud of his daughter, and you could tell that he was proud to call David his son-in-law. As I look back at the pictures of this moment, I can only imagine that David was thinking that Elizabeth was God's greatest blessing to him too.
From the chilly breeze to the warmth of Merrill Hill's Country Club, to a final twirl around the dance floor and good-bye hugs, David and Elizabeth's day was classic, sweet, and all sorts of lovely.
Enjoy some of my favorite moments from their day.
David and Elizabeth,
Thanks for keeping things real, thanks for being genuine, thanks for being awkward and adorable, and thanks for letting me document your day. You two are the best!
Much love,
Carley
